Witness Slip Tracker

Track, and find out about when you can make your voice heard on priority bills in Illinois, via witness slip!

  • We need your support pushing Illinois bills on housing and transportation forward. Fill out a witness slip for priority bills before the upcoming deadlines.

A witness slip is a quick, formal way to tell your state legislators where you stand on a bill before it ever comes to a vote. It takes about 2 minutes and anyone can do it. Pay close attention to whether the position listed is PROPONENT (support) or OPPONENT (oppose).

How to file: Go to my.ilga.gov, find the bill, and fill out the short form. Watch Bike Grid Now’s video guide shown here for step-by-step instructions or check out this step-by-step PDF.

    Key fields inputs:

    • "Self" in the firm/business field

    • “N/A” in the title field

    • "Self" in the representation field

    • "Record of Appearance only" in the testimony field

Pro tip: Create a free MyILGA account first so your info is saved for future slips.

  • This tracking tool can be used to check up on and be updated on the status of bills in the Illinois state legislature.

You can review each bill on the ILGA website, by clicking the button that sends you to the “ILGA page” for each bill.

If you’d like to focus on certain bills from the priority list, click the “Track” button, which will save a bill to “My List”. Your bill list stays on your device, saved as a local cookie, which can be reset in your browser settings. For privacy, this cookie is not sent to any server.

As bills are placed on hearing calendars, the tool will update accordingly, providing the when and where to file a witness slip, and what Strong Towns Chicago’s position is on each.

    The tool combines:

Bills are labeled as “Housing” or “Transportation” (including safe streets, transit, and biking related bills) based on the Strong Towns Chicago priority list.
