August Events

Whew, summer is just flying by! We have a few exciting events coming up in the next couple weeks. See below! You can also find these events on our calendar page.

• Strong Towns Chicago Monthly Meeting, 8/6 6:30pm CST - Join us for our monthly meeting at the Near North Branch Library. This event is free and open to all! Newcomers VERY welcome. This is a great opportunity to learn about our current initiatives and get involved.

  • After the meeting, we'll head to Declan's (21+) for a post-meeting social.

• Ranch Triangle Walking Tour, 8/10 1pm CST - Join us for a free neighborhood walking tour of the Ranch Triangle area of Lincoln Park! The tour will start and end at the Armitage Brown Line station. This walk will touch on the two different sections of the neighborhood and is expected to last for a little bit more than an hour with several stops along the way.

  • Post-Walk Social: Please join us after the walk around 2:30 PM for socializing and drinks at Kincade's!

• Housing-a-thon, 8/13 6:30pm CST - Join Strong Towns and several other Chicago Urbanism-aligned orgs to learn about a variety of housing topics! We’ll be having small discussions about the current state of incremental housing, counterproductive building codes, parking reform to spur development, and many more topics. In addition to building knowledge, we’ll be focusing on effective legislative and advocacy action. You’ll learn  about what you can directly do to address the  housing crisis and there is absolutely no prior experience required.
