The South Shore Remembers Oral History Project and Gallery Installation is pivotal to enhancing our shared understanding of South Shore’s past by illuminating the personal memories and experiences of those who lived it. The oral histories will live on in many different iterations including a video gallery exhibition at the Sisters in Cinema Media Arts Center and Sister Outsider self-guided walking tours.
Launched as a part of the South Shore Remembers Project, The South Shore Remembers app is a walking tour application that takes you on a journey through the community of South Shore in Chicago, IL. Whether you’re in South Shore or at home, you’ll be able to traverse the neighborhoods iconic 71st and 75th Streets and there are more South Shore tours currently in development. You’ll also be able to read history from voices in the South Shore community through our South Shore Moments. In addition to the moments, the app contains resources for the South Shore community and an events calendar so that you can stay up to date on events in the community.
