April Happy Hour And Membership Drive

We’ll be hosting a happy hour, Wednesday, 4/23, at 6:30pm at Lincoln Square Taproom! Eventbrite to register here. That week, the main stretch of Lincoln Square will be closed to car traffic and opened up for pedestrians. We’ll be celebrating this brief reclaiming of public space from cars!

Big Announcement: Membership Drive

If you haven’t heard, Strong Towns Chicago is now an official nonprofit in the state of Illinois! Thank you so much to those who have donated already.

Your contributions have supported our operating costs as a budding nonprofit as well as the 4 Flats by Right housing panel in collaboration with CNU Chicago in March. As Strong Towns Chicago continues to grow, we look forward to funding more events with our coalition partners for better public transit, safe streets, and affordable housing for all. Additionally, we are now able to fund bus bench building efforts, workshops throughout the city, and more!

Lets keep the momentum going! We are thrilled to launch our very first member drive! For only a $15 dollar donation, you can become an official Strong Towns Chicago member for the year. Perks of membership include access to exclusive social events, early access to popular events, and access to private Slack channels.

Become a Strong Towns Chicago Member

We have an ambitious goal to hit 100 new members. Having a consistent annual income will help us maintain Strong Towns Chicago as an organization now that there are significant operating and advocacy costs that have grown beyond what volunteers can support out of pocket.

If you’d like to become a Strong Towns Chicago member but cost is an obstacle, you can volunteer at an event instead. Please submit a record of your volunteering work through the form linked here. Additionally, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Strong Towns board (myself, Chloe Groome, Neil Stein, or Alex Montero) to be connected with volunteer opportunities. The main Slack channels will always be open to all, along with our non-social events like neighborhood walks and workshops. Membership to Strong Towns Chicago is a bonus, not a requirement!

Thanks for your support and we hope to see you at the Lincoln Square Happy Hour on 4/23!

-Aaron Feldman, Strong Towns Secretary
